Houston, TX, November 16, 2008 - Sometimes dreams are deferred and sometimes they come true. Two Texas beauties had their tiara dreams fulfilled in a night of pageantry at its best. Nicole Hickl was crowned Miss Black Teen Texas USA 2009 on Sunday, November 16, 2008, in a competition featuring contestants from across Texas in the statewide pageant.
Nicole Hickl, a 2008 graduate of Dulles High School and freshman at the University of St. Thomas, competed against 3 contestants. As the new Miss Black Teen Texas USA Hickl will address the issue of teen depression. As a former sufferer of this disease, Hickl understands the effects it can have on an individual and wants to mentor teens who are afflicted with depression by encouraging them to set and achieve goals as she raises awareness of teen depression. Not only did Hickl win the coveted title of Miss Black Teen Texas, she also won Miss Cover Girl 2008, Miss Congeniality, and Director's Award Fundraiser.
The Miss Black Teen Texas USA Pageant is a part of the Miss Black Texas USA Organization and Black All-American Pageant Systems, Inc. It operates as a 501 © 3 organization.
